Dear Respondent,
You are invited to contribute a short written reflection/testimony that will form part of a touring exhibition and online exhibition. The exhibition will explore LGBTQ+ experiences of faith here in Wales, and will travel to different venues – including churches/chapels and secular spaces.

I am aiming to collect up to 20 reflections from different individuals. Alongside this, I will be creating a series of art prints to illustrate aspects of the reflections, to display alongside them.

Please read this page carefully and be confident that you understand its contents before deciding whether to participate.

If I agree to participate, what will I be required to do?

I would like you to write 100-250 words in English or Welsh, on as many of the following as you wish:

  • ‘What I’ve learnt about identity, sexuality and love’
  • ‘My faith journey/what faith means to me’
  • ‘Being open and honest about my identity/sexuality and faith’
  • ‘People who have supported and nourished my faith’
  • ‘My favourite passage from scripture’
  • ‘My hopes and dreams for the future’

I would like you to email your reflection to me via the participant’s form (see below), signing it either with your name, or a pseudonym. If you prefer to submit a handwritten reflection, please call me to make arrangements.

You are also invited to submit a photograph of yourself to display alongside your text, but this is optional.

What will happen to the reflection/photo I provide?

I will save one copy of your photo and reflection, password-protected, onto my laptop. When all reflections are ready, I will print bilingual versions of each onto mount boards ready for the touring exhibition and also upload to an online exhibition site.

As I receive reflections from participants, I will start developing a series of art prints to illustrate the various themes/topics discussed. To see the kind of prints I make, please view the printmaking page of this website. I am aiming to make the prints during 2026, and start the touring/online exhibition in early 2027.

What are the benefits associated with participation?

By contributing a reflection, you will be helping to promote understanding and dialogue about LGBTQ+ experiences of faith here in Wales.

What are my rights as a participant?

  • The right to be kept up to date on the development of the project.
  • The right to withdraw from participation at any time.
  • The right to have any data withdrawn and destroyed.
  • The right to be de-identified in any photographs intended for public publication, before the point of publication, at your request.
  • The right to have any questions answered at any time.
